2008 Information Technology at RDAS
Workstations
At present there are 176 workstations on the curriculum network running Windows XP.
The main computing room contains 33 Celeron 2600 workstations The smaller computing room contains 17 Celeron 1700 Workstations and 7 Celeron 2600 workstations. All workstations have access to a CD-Quickshare CD imaging system.
There is a new computer room being prepared that will be dedicated to Primary School use. This will free computer use during lesson time as well as during breaks and will provide more access across the school.
All Junior Primary and Primary and secondary classrooms have their own workstations. In addition there are 10 computers for use in the community library and 15 for senior secondary students use.
35 Apple iBook laptop computers are also set-up to provide a "mobile" classroom set of computers. These log on to the Curriculum network via Apple "Airport" wireless network technology. These computers are used by the primary classes and can be set-up wherever the teacher desires.
All workstations are maintained by Norton Ghost Imaging system which enables us to keep workstations running trouble free and have less down time.
Printers
Most teaching blocks have access to a centrally located printer. The main computer room has a Kyocera which sevices both computing rooms.
2 Hewlett Packard LaserJet 5P . 2 HP 6P LaserJet printers
Internet
Internet access is provided as part of DECS's EduSuite network. Access is provided by 2 ISDN lines with 2 64kb channels each. A total of 256kb bandwidth is provided. This is connected through a cisco systems router with a built in hardware firewall to provide access to both the curriculum and administration networks.
The Administration network is independent from the curriculum network and is used by school administration staff. This network uses the Government provided Windows NT 4.0 EDSAS system.
Support Staff
The school is lucky to have the services of one SSO (school support officer), namely Yvonne Pattenden, who is dedicated to the computing area of the school. Yvonne has high skill levels with our computer hardware and is available for installation, repair and general troubleshooting.
